Lot

A lot is one purchase (date, price, quantity). Under FIFO, sales consume the oldest lot first.

A lot is a concrete purchase parcel: when, at what price, and how many shares. Portfolios with top-ups have multiple lots per ticker.

On a sale, FIFO takes lots from the oldest. That affects realized P&L and whether those shares met the holding-period test.
